Hello...My name is Rachel Veghte. I went to college for elementary and special education, but after obtaining my degree, I quickly found that this was not the career for me. I always knew in my heart that I should be working with animals, so I decided to start my own pet sitting business in the summer of 2005. After only a year, I knew that this was the career for me, and I plan on continuing with my business indefinitely. If you have any questions regarding our pet services that we offer, do not hestitate to contact me. I will get back to you as soon as possible. Here are some of my personal pets: |
|
| FREDDY | |
| Freddy is a 3 year old shepherd/lab/pit bull mix. He was taken from a house in Asbury Park by my best friend’s father, who saw that he was being neglected. When he was just a puppy, he was left outside on a chain all day without food and water. Freddy has turned out to be the nicest dog that we have ever had – he loves other dogs and children, loves to play, and is always happy. | |
| SARGE | |
| Sarge is a 7 year old coon hound/blood hound mix. I was working at a veterinarian’s office last summer, and he was going to be euthanized by a woman who ran an adoption group because they could not find a home for him. Sarge had already been through a few permanent and foster homes, but was returned because he was not very active and was lethargic. About a month after we took Sarge in, we found out that he had a very low thyroid level. Almost a year later, and with the help of thyroid medication, Sarge is one of the happiest, most active and playful dogs I have ever seen. | |
| SIMBA | |
| Simba is an 11 year old tabby DSH cat. He was given to me as a kitten when I was in 8th grade by my grandparents, when our first dog was nearing the end of her life. He was our first cat, and inspired us to keep getting more. | |
| NALA | |
| Nala is a 10 year old gray and white DSH cat. She was found as an abandoned kitten in a nursery where my friend’s brother was working. We got her so that Simba would have another friend to play with. | |
| BABY | |
| Baby is a 5 year old black DSH cat. She was abandoned by her mother as a kitten and was the only survivor in her litter, found in a garage in Philadelphia. I was not allowed to take any of our other pets to college with me, so I got her when I moved off campus my junior year. | |
| SAVANNAH | |
| Savannah is a 3 year old Bengal. When I moved out of my mother’s house last year into my condo, I was only allowed to take Baby with me. She was lonely, so I had to find her a friend. I found Savannah on www.petswithdisabilities.org. She was seized from a cat hoarder who bought all pure bred cats and dogs. Savannah and the other cats were all kept in cat carriers for most of the day in a bathroom, and were only allowed out for a few hours at a time. Sometimes the cats would escape from the bathroom and be severely injured or killed by one of the dogs in the house. Due to these conditions, she had some socialization problems. After having her for a few months now, she has become very social and affectionate, and is now friends with Baby. | |
